I've been going through some interesting experiences with some of the music I loved at least 10 years ago. When my mom passed suddenly, I lost a lot of interest in music. Some of our friends' bands brought it back and I'm rediscovering some of my passion and excitement for it again.
Also the way my brain is wired, I 'think in pictures'. So when I hear a song, I don't just hear it. I either start playing the video in my brain (if I've seen it) or I replay a memory I strongly associate with listening to it. Partly why I like youtube so much!
All We Need by Out of the Grey...one of Steve Taylor's directed videos. I just happened to find it while looking for something else. I've always liked the message and how striking the video is.
Chem 6A Switchfoot ...I don't think I ever saw this video! I think this was one of their first releases though. I met them around 2000 or 2001...Sweetest, most down to earth guys *ever* and now they have Jerome from Mortal:).
Undo Me by Jennifer Knapp ...We once saw MXPX right after her. It was strange. :)
Staring at a Bird the Waiting... I used to listen to this album often on the looooooooooooooooong bus rides to school and back. Love this song. Sweet, sweet band. I met Brad once. Then I lost my friend and couldn't find my way back to our campsite. So I hung out with two guys I had just met and we walked around all night and told stupid jokes at campsites. Only at Cornerstone is that a SAFE thing to do, lol!!!! I love their clothes too.
All Pretty for the TV by poor old lu...the band that changed my life.
Grey Clouds by Dakoda Motor Co...the first song I heard by them and the band that really brought me into the more underground music world. Chuck Cummings (drummer) played for a number of older bands, like Uthanda and I *think* Undercover. His name just pops up a lot.
I grew up on a lot of Jesus Music (the Rettinos, etc) and this was definitely a nice throwback to some of that era.
Revolution by Jars of Clay. Probably my favorite JOC song after Flood. 'You don't need to fight or make yourself belong, to be a revolution...'
Someone to Hold on to by the Choir...first Choir song I heard. I was intrigued...Great album.
