I just got some amazing incense from her: China Rain, Fairy Dust, Peace of Mind and Harvest. Yum. Yum. YUM!! I was a little nervous to order incense online (since I'm so sensory orientated, touchy feely) but her descriptions were right on and they are well made and burn nicely. The husband (who I partly got them for) was really impressed and he knows his incense.
Second, I'm greatly saddened by Paul Newman's death. :( There are so many things I've been thinking about lately that I can connect, which makes it harder. I've been thinking a lot about my grandmother (an Enneagram One) who has now been gone 13 years yesterday. She was buried on my 17th birthday. I was thinking of listing songs/videos that make me think of the different special Enneagram 'types' I've had in my life.
Danny Boy is what makes me think of my paternal grandmother. It was played at her funeral. She was from Armagh, Ireland, born on St Patrick's Day (and St P did a lot in Armagh!), came to America in about 1920 or so, when she was 2 years old on the Canopic, a White Star Line ship, a sister of the fated Titanic.
And I can't think of my grandmother's illness and death without thinking about my momma. She spent weeks at a time taking care of her. about 3 hours away from where we lived. We took my dad's sister in for a couple of years, and after grandma passed, grandpa moved in with us...
Thank You by Ray Boltz is the song that makes me think of my mom. She loved this song and it embodies her. She didn't care who you were or what you believed or what you thought...She'd love you and take care of you. And sometimes, when I let myself fantasize about what heaven *could* look like (meaning: not necessarily what I believe Scripturally, lol)...I think of my mom as the number one greeter in heaven, helping everyone get settled in or in heaven's all too busy nursery, holding all the little ones before they come to Earth and after they get back to heaven.
****And as always, women get your heart checked out!!! Heart disease is the Number One killer of women. Know your heart, know the symptoms, take care of yourself...*
Can't think of grandma and mom without thinking about dad. He liked my song choices for the Enneagram types but that I Am a Rock by Simon and Garfunkel is the ultimate 5 song. I knew it was by them but I couldn't remember what song it was and didn't think it was Sound of Silence. It's not exactly the *healthiest* 5 song though, lol. This is the best line:
'I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;'
But the song that makes me think of my dad the most is Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues. Shockingly appropriate for today's political climate. I have a plethora of Dylan quotes in my head, thanks to dad. I just found a Weird Al cover called 'Bob'. It's a song done in palindromes...I am thinking Weird Al might be a very healthy 5...
Can't think of dad and not my sister! This is the song that makes me think of her: The Verve Pipe The Freshmen. I couldn't stand this song when it came out, lol, but she loved it. It's grown on me over the years.
And my sweet husband...Closing Time by Semisonic...This came out around the time we were engaged. We had a long distant relationship, and engagement. He came to visit me in Feb 98 and this song was on the radio constantly. He had us turn it up every time in the car:). Of course Semisonic is a 'local' band for us, lol.
The song for my little boys is The Fingerprint of God by Steven Curtis Chapman. I think it must have come out around the time I was pregnant with my first (2000) and they played it all the time on the Christian radio station. I wouldn't feel E move, but if we heard this song, he'd start kicking like crazy:).
And for my personal entertainment, my favorite songs right now.
1.La Fortuna Young Indy Chronicles I have the Indy soundtrack with this song on it and I found it recently. I blast this song while I'm on my thrifty/etsy runs in my truck:). LOL. This is a bit of a long bit, rather violent (one of the most horrific battles of WWI), but it was shown on ABC in primetime in 92. And it's George Lucas, so it's not super gorey. And LOVE Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, which is where the song comes from...nice connection to the 70's tv version of All Quiet on the Western Front. This is a great clip to match up with 30 Seconds to Mar's From Yesterday ...almost more striking and powerful with those lyrics/music.
(ie:" On a mountain he sits, not of gold but of sin (I think the word is actually sh**)
through the blood he can learn, see the lives that it took
From council of one
He'll decide when he's done with the innocent...."
matches perfectly with the priest blessing the men in the trenches and Petain (I think it's Petain) standing alone in front of the window. The decisions of the few and powerful affect so many. )
2. Sixpence None the Richer 'Trust' Also on cassette in my truck. Probabably my all time favorite Bible verse too. And Field of Flowers by 6p as well. These were the first songs I ever heard by them. It was love, true love, lol.
3.That Thing You Do by the Wonders Love this song, love this movie.:) I have a thing for songs with a *2 1 2 1 2 1* beat. Oh...Unhealthy 4 song. But at least it's chipper sounding!
4.Shake It by Metro Station. No comment, LOL!!!!
5.Oh Boy by Buddy Holly I haven't annoyed my extended family with my Buddy Holly fascination. Yet. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I really like the MXPX version of this song. It is up on youtube, but it's put with a slashy Harry Potter video. If you don't know what slashy means, you're probably better off, lol! And Bucky Covington did it on American Idol which made me like him a little;).

I'm more inclined to believe that Weird Al (I've said hello to him in person several times) is actually a very healthy nine. Good, harmonious relationships are key to him. Hey, he's had the same manager and the same band for more than 25 years.
Weird Al...hee hee. Loved his stuff way back when. I love song posts..it gets me thinking. I am a big Travis Tritt fan, and someday I plan to scrap a whole album with his songs in it. Music tells who we are! Scroll down my blog sometime and listen to my favorite Travis song. :)
Weird Al as a 9 makes sense as well. That's the beauty of a healthy personality. It can be so many different things, especially the 9.:)
