I saw this little bird on a walk a few weeks ago. I kept taking photos and getting closer and closer. I could not believe how close he let me get! I used the 'flower' close up setting on my camera.
He makes me happy:). Does anyone know what kind of bird this is and if, in fact, it is a male? Thanks!

Aww. I think he may be a woodpecker because of the stripe on his head. Was his back black and white, kind of stripy? You should name him.
Cute. I also think he looks like a woodpecker, and I'm guessing it's a he. Female birds usually aren't colorful.
I have no idea but am impressed that my daughter was able to make a guess. I wonder where she learned that from.

I didn't really look at his back. He had some goopage on his right eye. Didn't know if another bird had pooped on him or if he'd gotten in a fight or if it's just normal bird-ness.
Makes sense that he's a woodpecker! They're really cute when they're not making so much noise!

He is way cute! Looks like a male. He sure doesn't look like our Woodpeckers here in Ak, but you might have different ones. Anyway, he looks adorable and even happy to pose for the cam!
