Grand Canyon

I'm having a hard time readjusting to life in MN after the trip!!

I am so glad we got to go to the Grand Canyon but will be honest that I'm disappointed we didn't have much time there. I feel like I need a good week there to explore and sit and think and look. But it was good.

The Tuesday before we left, I went with my 8 year old on his field trip to the MN Science Museum. We watched an IMAX movie about the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Very cool and glad we got to see such an interesting view point on it right before we went.
I found a trailer:):

Photos never seem to be able to do the Grand Canyon justice. The thing that struck me the most was how QUIET it was. No birds or animals, and where we stopped, we were the only humans there. It was beautiful and amazing.

We've been meaning to take the kids to the GC. I want to wait until ds is old enough where I know he won't jump off the side! And I want to take the time to go to the north rim, since only 10% of the tourists make it there, and it;s a 1000 feet higher. I've been to the south rim twice. Neither for very long. :-(

That is a gorgeous photo! I love the Grand Canyon. And I saw that IMAX movie and loved it as well.

Now I need to go back!

I have been there once and it is truly humbling. How neat that you and your son was able to see an IMAX film before going!

One time I flew over part of the Grand Canyon on a tour but it just didn't seem to look right. I wish I had seen it from land. I saw this show where some people were hiking in this river valley and it looked so amazing. I want to do that!

Grand Canyon! Must have been wonderful!

Mmmm, saw the name of your blog and wondered... do you like to fill envelopes, with old fashioned snail mail perhaps? Since I'm trying to rev up my snail mail correspondence once again, I'm noticing such things. :-)

My blog link is at the bottom, and my email addy is on my Sidebar... If you do like to exchange old fashioned letters.

My parents used to live in Williams. Their house was only 45 minutes from the Grand Canyon. I went there once. I was afraid my kids were going to fall in! They kept trying to get me to ride the train there with them but I never did.

Ben and I are making plans to go to AZ this fall. He has family there and I've never been further west than TN.

I would love to see the Grand Canyon! Also on my bucket list! I love IMAX movies! I'll bet the Grand Canyon one was pretty cool. Did you get motionsickness at all? I remember seeing one where we were in a plane, and I wanted to crawl down to the floor. I almost lost my cookies!
