Siegfried Sassoon's Dreamer

This is one of my favorite and Sassoon's most well known poems. I heard it for the first time on Young Indiana Jones way back in 1992. I was 14 and needed to understand war. It only took me 15 years! When I've looked for it before on youtube, it has not been there. But today...it was!
I personally think we have so many valuable lessons to learn from WWI.

For context reasons...Indy has joined the Belgian army and is on a break from fighting in the Western Front in the Somme, one of the bloodiest battles of WWI. Even though all the men together are part of the Allies, there is some name calling between the French, Belgian and British armies. A tennis game is held and Indy plays against Sassoon and Graves. And then the game is over and this scene occurs.

Dreamers
Soldiers are citizens of death’s grey land,
Drawing no dividend from time’s to-morrows.
In the great hour of destiny they stand,
Each with his feuds, and jealousies, and sorrows.
Soldiers are sworn to action; they must win
Some flaming, fatal climax with their lives.
Soldiers are dreamers; when the guns begin
They think of firelit homes, clean beds and wives.

I see them in foul dug-outs, gnawed by rats,
And in the ruined trenches, lashed with rain,
Dreaming of things they did with balls and bats,
And mocked by hopeless longing to regain
Bank-holidays, and picture shows, and spats,
And going to the office in the train.
